First appearing in the original Paper Mario game, Badges are back and better than ever in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door! They’re character-augmenting equipment items that can add new moves to your arsenal, change your stats, and much more.

The Badges you equip make a huge difference in battle, so we’ve put together a list of every Badge in the game and where you can find each one.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door: Badges Guide

How to Get Badges

Badges are sold at shops and hidden throughout Rogueport and its surrounding areas. You'll find many of these as you progress through the story.

There are a few common places to get Badges. Some Badges are sold by Charlieton, a merchant who appears in central Rogueport. His stock changes every time you exit and re-enter the area. Another place is the Lovely Howz of Badges. Later on, you can also trade for Badges in the Rogueport Sewers.

How many Badges are there?

There are 85 different Badges in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on GameCube, and an additional 1 in the Switch version brings the total up to 86.

As we've mentioned, you can buy these from shops, find them out in the world, get them from bosses and enemies, and swap Star Pieces for them.

Where is the Lovely Howz of Badges

The Lovely Howz of Badges is a Badge shop in Rogueport. To get there, leave the inn through the second floor and enter the house on the bridge. It's that simple. The shop adds new stock every time you clear a chapter.

Where to find Dazzle and trade for Badges?

Once you’ve made it to Rogueport Sewers, you can also trade Star Pieces you’ve collected in exchange for Badges – and many of them are quite helpful!

To do this, enter the sewers from the east Rogueport pipe and then go through the door on the left. Once there, speak to Dazzle and he’ll ask to trade goods with you. If you’re looking to collect some additional Star Pieces to save up for a Badge, be sure to refer to our Star Piece location guide.

What is a 'P' Badge?

If a Badge has a 'P' on it, that means that the Badge will also affect your partner.

For example, Double Dip P will allow your partner to use two items in battle at the cost of 4 FP.

What is the best Badge?

Quick Change is a definite highlight of the Badges; Dazzle sells the Badge at his shop and it’s incredibly useful. With this Badge equipped, Mario can swap out partners without wasting a turn.

This isn’t too useful early on, but later you may find yourself needing to swap partners more frequently. It costs 7 BP to use, but it’s certainly worth it during the latter half of the game.

All Badges and locations

We’ve found every single Badge in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and below is a list of all of them and where to find them.

We’ve categorized them by type, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a specific Badge on the list. And don't forget, you can sort every table alphabetically if you wish.
