Nah, the last thing I want to see is the game rushed and turn out bad. SSB4 is getting a 2014 release. Also, I dont have a Wii U yet but these two titles want me to change that.

The last thing Nintendo needs is more people not buying their console because they haven't released enough good games for it in its first year.
I doubt Nintendo wants to rush the game to a 2013 date. Release the games and assuming they turn out mediocre, get universally bad reviews either. @Geonjaha
Errr, this has probably been mentioned before, but is this haunted house track a potential Luigi's Mansion 2 reference?
The suit of armour with the hammer, the generally gloomy art style, it just makes me think of Dark Moon for some reason. Is this potentially an Evershade Valley inspired track?

I feel they focused almost too much on the online with MK7. Its a good thing that Nintendo isnt being stubborn anymore with online. But this isnt Call of Duty. The online isnt Nintendo's only selling point. >:3 @Emaan
I thought it looked and played pretty well. They did say that the demo was a fairly old build of the game. I kinda wish there was 3 laps. There was only 2 laps, because I think they figured the tracks were pretty big for what they were.
It will be fun.

Pretty sure they made the demo two laps to move people on. It's a kiosk demo built for E3, they want to get as many people to see the games as possible. It's not built for you to stand there for 30mins annoying everyone in the queue....
Anyways, after watching a few videos of the demo on youtube I've noticed a few things. For a start the tires on the karts look like they're made from really thick rubber... which sounds stupid for me to point out but it just seemed right somehow. Also the road when they've stopped looks fantastic, very high resolution textures going on. The animation is also looking pretty awesome. Better still the two player races I saw were running really smoothly which is a nice change for Mario Kart.
I really hope they can get four player running just as smoothly.... and I would assume that's most of what they'll be doing for the rest of the development time. Damn this game would have been awesome to have this year

I'm not sure if that means 'snaking' is truly back. After all, you could technically 'snake' in Wii and 7, it's just it wasn't fast enough to make a difference:
I'm skeptical that what we saw there was effective enough to actually be useful. Especially if the demo is only 100cc like is rumoured...

It's not. I played the demo yesterday and the drifting is almost exactly like the drifting in Mario Kart 7. Since you can't snake in Mario Kart 7, it's pretty safe to say you can't in Mario Kart 8. I used to snake in Double Dash (for time trials) and Mario Kart DS (for online when it was impossible to win otherwise), so I have some experience with it and it just doesn't seem possible, which is a GOOD thing. The game handles very similarly to Mario Kart 7. On the bikes, you can no longer wheelie (at least I wasn't able to), and the bikes that I used did NOT drift inward...which was one thing I liked about the bikes in Mario Kart Wii.
tl;dr MK8 is very similar to MK7 in terms of drifting and handling. Since you can't snake in MK7, you can't snake in MK8 (unless you use the term VERY very loosely...you can but it's not faster)
Im glad that the coin mechanic is back and wasnt some gimmick that MK7 tried to utilize (yes Im aware that this was implemented in previous installments). u_u
