Hi there!
Just a quick question. What would be the best option you think? To buy Ocarina of Time for the N64/VC, or the 3DS remake. Would love to play it on my TV, but also I want the best experience!
If you don't know what would be best for me, then say what would be best for you instead!

@TechnoCharlie Word on the street is that the 3DS version is the 'definitive' version. But obviously, if you want true authenticity, then you should play it as originally released on the N64.
I've only played the 3DS version, and having played that playing any older version would probably be a bit rough.
Plus, if you play it on 3DS you can use miiverse to keep some journal entries of your journey. For a game as iconic as OoT, it really adds an extra touch of specialness.
I'm pretty sure there's a main thread for this game if you search for it. Really we'd prefer questions like this asked there rather than start new threads, for future reference
I would probably prefer N64 cart. However, the 3DS version also includes the Master Quest with new dungeons and higher difficulty. The Master Quest came out for GameCube on a Wind Waker pre-order.

I think both are fun.
Also the 3DS has gyro aiming. It is the definitive version, but the N64 version is still enjoyable.
The 3DS version is probably the better version to get, but since you probably know of the 3DS benefits already (better graphics, 3D, Master Quest, portable, gyro aiming, second-screen features, etc.) I'll list some benefits of the N64/VC version:
Playable on TV
Playable with a better controller (not that using a 3DS is bad, but I'd argue a Wii U GamePad/Wii U Pro controller/GameCube controller (if you're playing on the original Wii) is more comfortable)
Higher resolution (480i vs the 240p resolution of the 3DS version, though to be honest the small screen of the 3DS kind of negates this advantage anyway)
Better final boss fight (since you never played the game, I won't give any spoilers, but apparently people say the N64 version has the better final boss fight because of lighting. Since the 3DS is more powerful the developers added more light to the final boss fight, but that inadvertently ruins the atmosphere of the final boss fight. The N64 version, with less lighting during the final boss fight, suited the atmosphere better).
Bear in mind that N64 version is $10 while the 3DS version is only $20, so there isn't much of a price difference.
Also, if you ever consider the N64/VC version, apparently the original Wii VC version (playable through the Wii menu on Wii U or on an original Wii) is better than the Wii U VC version.
Get the 3DS version. Obviously, the N64 version is the best one, but that's only because it was literally my childhood. The 3DS version works a bit easier and is so much easier on the eyes.
Even if you wanted an authentic version, it'd be difficult finding an original version without the changes to the Gerudo symbol and Fire Temple music.
