This is for anyone who has completed not only the main campaign but all included expansions "Opposing Fronts" and "Tales of Valor". I want to know honestly are the expansions just as good and worth completing like the main campaign. I understand level of fun in game(s) is different for everyone so this question may come confuse some. Let me explain.

I absolutely loved the main campaign. There was ton of buildup for me when this got announced for Switch because back in the day I owned this on PC at the time but ONLY played the online multiplayer with a friend. Never played the campaign but always had intentions to because I was told it's awesome. However, as life moved on, and new games come and go I moved on and completely forgot about it.

Fast forward to present day and once the Switch release reviewed well it was an excitingly instant purchase for me. The main campaign missions were so fun and intense. Very satisfied to finally actually play the campaign so many years later.

The one drawback for games like this is they are HUGE time sinks. Yes, they are very fun but my life is at a point now (turn 40 in June ) where my gaming time is so limited. I've whined before on this site that it can take me months to finish a game while many of you talk about finishing a game in a weekend and/or less than a week.

Once I FINALLY completed the main campaign I was torn up some. I was super eager to move on and keep hacking at the backlog (I'm making progress, but it is a hydra dragon) but at the same time I didn't want to repeat the same mistake I did many years ago with the original campaign. I started up the "Opposing Fronts" campaign, got about 3 or 4 missions in and felt a "meh" feeling. A lot of it felt like "hey, we're being attacked over here, send help", then "Oh no! We're being attacked over here!", then more "there's enemy over here now." Plus, the whole unit/upgrade/deployment system changed to nothing like it was in the main campaign and I just couldn't get into it. I eventually dropped it and moved onto the next backlog game.

I still have the game installed and it stares at me every time I boot up the system. I say to myself often "yeah I gotta get around to finishing those expansions" but that game can be HUGE time sink. Games like Company of Heroes are not pick up and play games. You need to be ready to invest some time into them. Yes I'm aware with the Switch you can play wherever at your convenience, but those missions are designed to experience in a sitting. Not all chopped up.

So yeah after all my blabbering my question is are the "Opposing Fronts" and "Tales of Valor" campaigns just as good if not better than the main campaign? Is it worth putting the backlog back on hold and reinvesting my limited game time into completing them? Or is the main campaign the apex of the game and the expansions are just extra fluff for the hardcore fans? If the expansions are just more of what I said about those first 3 or 4 missions of "Opposing Fronts" then I'll probably pass on them both and not regret it down the line. Like I said just want to make sure I'm not making the same mistake I did many years ago and hear your opinions on the matter.

Thanks for your time.

This fire is burning and it's out of control. It's not a problem you can stop it's Rock and Roll!!!
