It's a winner!

Following the highly successful Japanese launch of the 3DS, Nintendo's hardware sales have been continually dominant as the handheld stays at the top of the charts after its first full week.

According to digital entertainment data tracker Media Create, the 3DS sold 374,764 units during the launch weekend of 26th February, and for the week running 28th February - 6th March, a further 209,623 consoles were sold. Although the figures show a decrease compared to the previous weekend, it's still a staggering number considering it dwarfs the combined sales of the other console systems ― the Playstation Portable trailed behind in second place with 76,246 units.

In terms of software, gamers spread themselves more thinly as half of the top ten consisted of PSP titles, with just three 3DS games making an appearance. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask sold 59,138 copies and secured a spot at #3. Nintendogs + Cats reached #5 with 44,699, and Samurai Warriors: Chronicles just managed to squeeze itself into the top ten with 30,112 copies. Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Ridge Racer 3D, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D just missed out, placing #11, #12 and #13 respectively.

Do you think the same games will have a repeat performance when they launch outside of Japan later this month?
