Update: Nintendo of Europe has clarified that Luigi's Mansion 2 is not multiplayer, and that the game's information was updated incorrectly. Our original story continues below.
We're all looking forward to the opportunity to bust ghosts in Luigi's Mansion 2, but we may not need to do it alone, as the game's official information page lists a multiplayer option.
Luigi's Mansion 2 at Nintendo Europe lists it as a one or two-player game, though there's no further information about how the multiplayer would work.
We played the game after E3 and very much enjoyed it, as our Luigi's Mansion 2 preview details.

Mario as P2 is genius. There's no reason why they shouldn't do that - it will boost sales. This gotta to be the most anticipated game of 2012 together with Kid Icarus and RE:Revelations. Three AAA games. What else are they planning? Nintendo needs more news of games and NoA needs to at least announce the RPG's for the Wii. And more Wii U news and a release date....

It could be a mistake. Nintendo makes those sometimes even when listing features for their own games. Another possibility is that it's a StreetPass feature. Also why only two players? That doesn't sound very exciting.

Dont get your hopes too high. The multiplayer probably wont include simple 2 player mansion exploring as much as standard minigames or small playing challenges. I'm just making a prediction, but who knows - maybe we'll get a full game playable with another person!
Wonder if they pull a mario and after beating the game we get a Mario's mansion mode.
I'm with Geonjaha on this one, if anything, it might also be something along the lines of the Luma player in Super Mario Galaxy.
If it is going to be exploring, though, I have to wonder if it's multi-card or not. I can't wait to hear more!

i'm predicting that player 2 could either be mario or even toad. mario especially and for his brother, luigi to take the spotlight for a change-yet for mario to still play an important role in the game.
would be nice to play as toad in a game like this and not just in the mario kart, mario party games.

Sounds pretty cool, as the original Luigi's Mansion wasn't multiplayer! Although P2 could steal treasure you found before you got it....

it all depends on the princess in this game. if its mario then theres a chance waluigi is the second player. if its a different prisoner, then its probobly mario.
First, I'd like a friend to play with...
I'm with Geonjaha (14.) and Teh-Ray (16.) here in thinking it will be nothing like the single player experience.
But if they really make something comparable i hope it will have online since i don't think playing together locally does capture the atmosphere very well. It would be different on a home console though and as always i'll gladly admit that i'm wrong if you surprise me, Ninty.
And i don't want Mario to be the playable second character. He would either steal the show or seem tacked on. Luigi deserves to shine so bring on Daisy.
