That single save file issue in Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions? Bit of a mistake on Namco's part, but not for the reason you might think.
Despite earlier reports that came from the publisher itself, it is possible to delete your save data on the cartridge if you want to. A company rep confirmed to Eurogamer that with a simple six-button combination you can wipe all your progress so far.
That combination? Hold A B X Y L and R as the game loads. Simple.
Don't forget the original Pac-Man is out on 3DS Virtual Console in Europe this week if you want a more traditional version of the pill-popper.

If only this existed in RE: Mercenaries also, then this whole issue would be resolved!
Could this be done with RE: Mercenaries 3D?
I hope this is the combination for all the non save data games!
You also said that their was no local leaderboards, when in fact four of the six games save the top 5 local scores. Plus they actually bothered to put in online leaderboards, unlike so many other developers. In that case, I believe your review score may have been too low.
With this ^^ and an erasable file... Any chance of reconsidering the review score?
... Since I understand those were the 2 main reasons holding the review score to 6.
You'd think they'd write that in the manual.... it isn't in the manual, is it? Sometimes these things are hidden so well it's like the developer doesn't WANT the consumer to find the info.
For the sakes of clarification, could you guys try this on your review copy to confirm? (Or check if this was a case of being in the manual all along, and nobody on the web bothered to read it?)
It seems weird that they would release the game, and not put instructions on how to wipe your save somewhere. Maybe Namco left a code in and was waiting to see how backlash for this move would be like...
Seems like there was some misinformation.
I really think the review score should be changed now according to this.
Yay, now those of you who were on the fence, please buy the game so we can get more third party support
@RebeccaGunn Our review copy is in the hands of Mr Jon Wahlgren over in the US. I'll try to get him to give it a go after work but might be 12 hours or so until we can get clarification.
RE: everyone asking for a re-review, we'll discuss it and go from there.
Would you score the game differently now?
Official line: we'll amend the review in light of this new information.
I'll b buying it now, thank u.
I doubt the outcome of the review would be different. The then unremoveable save file wasn't that important for the review and score and I think it's just mentioned.
It was importnat enough to be mentioned in the conclusion, so I guess it amy have affected the score.
Review amended.
Sneaker13 is spot-on. It had no bearing on the final score and was only mentioned so people would be aware of the now-fixed issue.
Okay, good. Now I can get this game.
This reminds me of Elite Beat Agents. I bought it used the other day, and the guy before me must have been some kind of whiz, because he had perfect scores on every level on every difficulty. I went to the options menu several times hoping I overlooked something, but couldn't find a delete option. I would have been fine with a Pacman-type game with a high-score table, but this only saved your best score. So it became impossible for me to compete against myself unless I wrote my scores down on paper.
Turns out, if at the publisher/developer screen, you hold down all face buttons, you can wipe the cart. Thank goodness for the internet!
Okay, good news. Now I can add this to my buy list.
Does every now seriously just copy something from ign and label it as facts now? Next time learn all the facts before you writing an article, then a review.
@siavm As the article clearly states, the incorrect info came from Namco.
@ZachKaplan
But the solution they gave is in most ds and 3ds game manuals and is widely known by most. And not trying it before putting out the article and the review proves what I said.
There are some games that use a similar method to delete game saves (such as Pokémon).
@siavm: when we're given information by a publisher, we expect it to be true. it's not our fault we were given the wrong information.
Aha! There's for all you save file freaks.
Hmm, cool now if I ever see the game used I can get it. I think I'll still just wait for a price drop though.
Well, that's very good news for the people who want the game!
You guys should also mention this at the review. I mean, that's just fair.
The review is already fixed, Henmii.
Thanks NL for staying on top of these stories, though. I hope we don't see many of the persistent-save data games in the future, but I hope you guys will continue to report on them if we do. Maybe the RE debacle scared everyone straight...
Incidentally, this information isnt in the game manual, so if it werent for this article I wouldn't've known. Anyways, glad this is the case after all, good goin
@24: Please that code is not in any manuals I've ever had and have. None I've encountered have said anything about being able to delete the file unless an option within the cart is present. Other than that its not common knowledge to use this code in cases like these.
@Sakura_Moonlight2421: Really? Elite Beat Agents, Super Mario 64 DS, and many other Nintendo games have similar options, and they're ALWAYS printed in the manual.
So is this code seriously NOT printed in the manual for this game? That is just a huge failure on the part of Namco, then. There's really no excuse for that kind of oversight.
"The review is already fixed, Henmii"
Ah, that's nice to hear!
This reminds me of an input code I saw in the instruction manual for Stunt Racer FX.
So I guess doing finger gymnastics will erase the save file...
