Right off the bat, Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition sold well, topping the 3DS charts and becoming the best-selling third party game on the machine. Producer and self-confessed Blanka lover Yoshinori Ono recently spoke about more Capcom fighters coming to the machine, including crossover scrapper Street Fighter X Tekken.
While Ono said the game is "possible", he first wants to bring recent home release Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition to 3DS. Arcade Edition adds four next characters — Yun, Yang, Oni and Evil Ryu — as well as new balancing tweaks, and is considered the definitive version of the title.
On Xbox 360 and PS3, Arcade Edition is available as paid DLC for owners of SSFIV, but it seems the 3DS release would be a standalone cartridge. Would you lay down money for more Street Fighting action?

ummm.... no.
(that is, in response to the question at the end.)
I wouldn't buy any of those. Can't they just make a new interesting title instead of ports?
At least I'll be getting RE Revelations.
SSFIV3DE creates an Extra Data file on 3DS, like Pokédex 3D does, and I assume it could be used for DLC (bought via eShop), like Pokédex 3D does (free DLC is still DLC), Cant it @James?
If it were a catridge, Id probably trade in the previous one if it were cheap, but I rather have it as DLC.
There is going to be DLC on the e-shop, Nintendo said so yesterday.
I understand releasing Street Fighter X Tekken but not SSFIV Arcade Edition. I don't think there will be enough new content to warrant a purchase over the one already out.
"Would you lay down money for more Street Fighting action?"
Hell no!!!
How many different versions of the same game can they make before enough people get fed up of seeing them? Who buys them and why? I can understand people buying them who haven't played any of them, (or at least not for a long time), but why pay money just for a few extra characters?
It's the same with sports games. They are, essentially, the same game with tiny extras.
Its been almost twenty years since they started doing so. If it was ever going to go away it would have done so by now. AE isn't worth buying at retail if you have SSFIV. AE won't be aimed at people who already own SSFIV but those people who don't.
But people DO buy them. So they keep making them.
not a big fan of 2d fighters but virtua fighter vs doa would be good★
I'd buy Street Fighter x Tekken, but not Arcade Edition.
4 characters and balance tweaks does not make a new game in my eyes.
Hehe, I knew Capcom was going to do this, so I held on to buying SF4, and got DOA:D instead. I'll most likely get the street fighter game. But not the other one, Tekken and SF characters just don't belong together, I'm hyped about the normal Tekken game that's coming to 3DS tho.
I would buy the Arcade Edition as DLC, not a new full priced game, especially not on the 3DS. As for Street Fighter X Tekken, yes, I'd purchase it, even on the 3DS.
Curse you Capcom!
Just take all my money!
I want megaman legends 3, not a barely upgraded ssf4. I want SVT but would only consider it for 3ds if they brought a nintendo character to it. Unless that happens I am still getting it on ps3.
I'd rather see Mega Man Legends 3 and Prototype
I don't have either yet, so yes.
I'd rather have MONSTER HUNTER on 3DS, not another rehash!!
I'd buy Arcade as DLC but not as another game! Hope you're listening Capcom!
Milk milk milk that franchise Capcom. I am still waiting for Super Street Fighter IV EX Plus Alpha Tekken vs Capcom Ultimate Tournament Tango Charlie Rosebud Limited Edition. Only then will I be satisfied.
Well.... Nintendo have recently announced that there will be paid dlc coming in the future.
Would I buy it if it´s dlc? Yes.
Would I buy the same game again with few new characters and stuff as retail game. No.
Is the Street Fighter on 3ds better than the DOA title? I will wait until more fighting games come out before i make up my mind. I wont pay for any of those atm
No, I would rather get it as a DLC.
No I wouldn't. How about Monster Hunter instead please Capcom.
I want megaman legends 3, not a barely upgraded ssf4.
One exists ready to be ported, the other doesn't exist at all. Guess which is more likely.
Milk milk milk that franchise Capcom.
But Nintendo hasn't seen a new Street Fighter game installment since Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the GBA. Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom don't count since they are crossover games. Hard to milk something that hasn't been milked for almost ten years. What happens on the PS3 and XBOX 360 is of no concern to Nintendo, I have a XBOX 360 too and I don't feel like Street Fighter is being milked on Nintendo consoles. So really, what is it that you are complaining about?
@Bass: So you're saying there hasn't been a new Street Fighter game in about 10 years? Repeatedly releasing slightly different versions of the same game multiple times = milking.
And you're right. It's of no concern to Nintendo. Nor is it Sony's or Microsoft's concern. Capcom's the one doing the milkin'.
Why can't they use the DLC system and be done with it? It's not like the 3DS is incapable of this. I hope this DLC affair won't happne to the 3DS like a certain other system, CHOUGH WII CHOUGH
If they could provide us those characters in DLC and a patch to gameplay, I would love them forever. I would love to play Street Fighter X Tekken on 3DS and since by the end of next year (most likely) both Street Fighter and Tekken will be available on 3DS, why the heck not?
No I play good games.
Since I have repeatedly almost bought SSFIV, and haven't yet, if they released the Arcade Edition, I'd be on it day one.
They can't use the DLC system cause the 3DS SF was never programed to have DLC. It would have to be a whole new game.
And I laugh how most of you, being most likely Nintendo fans, are yelling at Capcom for milking it's IPs.
I love Street Fighter and have been waiting on word of a possible AE port but probably won't fork out for a new cart. Why can't it be DLC like PS3/360?
Mmm, I'm stuck between getting SFIV on 3DS when I buy one by the end of the year or getting SSFIV (with patch) on PS3. Will a 3DS version really be released? Oh, so many rumors!
I also prefer monster hunter instead.
It would be okay if they had more genres than Fighting and Survival Horror being released. But since that doesn't seem to be the case, i'm going to have to give a definite "not interested" to this.
Am i the only one out there that does'nt like the visuals of the latest Street Fighter games, i'm not even a fan of the way it plays. Give me the old school anyday over this new stuff, i much prefer the road SNK went with the look of there games, the latest Street Fighters just look like Tekken they don't have the Capcom look.
Capcom will never get another cent of my money unless they keep bringing Okami series to Wii 3DS DS or Wii U. Street Fighter i have enough of..We also still need more Megaman. A NEW Megaman.
Street Fighter X Tekken is coming to the Vita, so I'm happy.
@Hardy83
Lol I know.
Capcom should just make a fighting game thats actually made for the 3DS. I have SSFIV AE on 360, and plan to get SF X Tekken on 360 as well. So yeah Capcom, make a NEW fighting game just for the 3DS.
3rd parties treating Nintendo customers more inferior to their psbox customers...then they whine abour s'port and expect sympathy.
I still hope SF X Tekken comes to the 3DS (and Wii U) as I'm a huge fan of both fighters
I'd rather buy a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on the 3DS than a SSFIV upgrade. Seriously! Has Capcom hit a new low?
Or I could continue to play Dead or Alive Dimensions, which, alongside the added bonus of already being a much better game than street figher 4, provided a ton of DLC costumes for free. Hmm...
That'd be fine, but I'd like to see a Street Fighter collection of their 2D games in their best interations.
Street Fighter (just so we can appriciate all the games to come)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Street Fighter Alapha
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Heck, how about a "Marvel vs. Capcom" collection? While you're at it, how about Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with ALL of the DLC characters that you squeezed out and more?
Even better! ...MONSTER HUNTER AND MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3 ON 3DS!
I don't see why many people are so surprised about this. It's not like they haven't done this before.
I don't even like Street Fighter that much, so I don't care. It could turn out good, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get another fighting game in a while because I'm picking up DoA: Dimensions today.
Nope. With SSFIV, I found out that I don't like SF or most games similar to it.
Good for those who want it though.
Keep milking that cash cow Capcom, just like you've done since Street Fighter 2 and all it's different editions.
I'm just glad the Mortal Kombat franchise isn't being milked like it used to be back in the 1990's.
When is Virtual Fighter going to make a comeback? We had VF4 in 2007, but nothing else since. Is that series not as popular as Tekken, MK, and SF?
Oops, meant to say "we had Virtua Fighter 4 in 2007, but nothing else since".
Oops, meant to say "we had Virtual Fighter 5 in 2007, but nothing else since".
I guess VF and DOA aren't as popular as SF, Tekken, and MK.
Blazblue and Guilty Gear is where I get my fix these days, Capcom are nothing but a constant let down as of late.
Sadly, this is how Capcom makes money. It's got a new hat! Buy it again!
...and millions do.
This is stupid... Why not release the AE the first time. The only reason I'd consider buying this is because I don't yet own a 3DS and haven't bought the first one.
Unless there's some kind of special deal where I can trade in the first game any pay only about $10 on top of it to get the Arcade Edition, there's no way I'm buying basically the same game again.
Now, Tekken vs. SF on the 3DS sounds cool, especially since I've heard you can play with both gameplay styles, meaning I'd be spending most of my time playing Tekken-style.
@56, I think there are two SFXT games coming: Street Fighter X Tekken (Street Fighter type fighting game and also the one I'll be getting.) and Tekken X Street Fighter (Tekken type fighting game).
Good thing I already sold my SSFIV3DE-copy. But I think Capcom shouldn't force it: they won't be able to replicate the "success". Better give us another big franchise, let's say Montser Hunter...
I figure Capcom was going to pull this with SSFIV 3D, thats why they didnt release the Arcade Edition when PS3 and Xbox got them or as a DLC because they wanted to continue selling SSFIV 3D to the masses and now with the announced 3DS price cut they are hoping that more people will pick it up. Than after people pick it up its going to be oh look at what we have now. Shame on you Capcom shame on you. Capcom is becomeing the Walmart of the video game industry.
As for Street Fighter X Tekken, I wish they would hurry up with this one I have been wanting to play it since the announcement last year. I hope this doesnt end up like Megaman Legends 3. These are two of my favorite fighting game franchises.
Y'see, this is why I'm starting to freaking loathe Capcom. They cancel the single best-looking third-party game for the 3DS, then start talking about releasing yet ANOTHER version of stupid old Street Fighter instead. That's just plain bullcrap.
Bastards. Hell no I won't pay. But I must say after finishing OoT, SSFIV3D is the game I keep coming back to. If my internet was a bit more stable I would be loving the internet matches a whole lot more too!
The milking begins on 3DS. Can't wait for Super Street Fighter IV Hyper Championship Turbo 3D or Ultra Street Fighter X Tekken 3D. But they don't have time for Mega Man Legends 3. Putting that game out might've taken some kind of effort and we just can't have that.
Hell No... thats my answer to the question at hand.
LOL. This would be the third Street Fighter game to hit a Nintendo handheld (or console, for that matter) in about ten years, and you consider that milking? This coming from the fanbase that's okay with Ocarina of Time being re-released three times since it debuted on the N64?
@Ron22
If that's directed at me, if you've read my other comments on other articles you will see I call out Nintendo plenty on what they do. SF is a good game but 3D Edition is all that's needed. And Capcom does milk the series, doesn't matter if they haven't released a ton of them on Nintendo consoles, they're milking SF IV dry on the 360 and PS3. Maybe people who only play Nintendo consoles don't have a problem with what they're doing, as somebody who owns multiple systems though, I'd like to see Capcom put as much effort into other series as they seem to put into making sure there are multiple versions of SF.
Yet another rerelease of SFIV? That game is barely three years old. And barely six months old on 3DS.
As other people in this thread have mentioned, give us a new game, we already have a SFIV on 3DS. I am not giving you a penny more for your laziness, Capcom.
I can see them releasing the SSFIV AE (again) for the PS Vita when it debuts.
Unless there's some kind of special deal where I can trade in the first game and pay only about $10 on top of it to get the Arcade Edition, there's no way I'm buying basically the same game again.
This, I am NOT going to pay another $40 for essentially a few extra characters. This has gone beyond the realms of milking fighting games over and over, Capcom. It is ridiculous, and I am not going to stand for it.
I will probably buy Street Fighter X Tekken...on the Vita.
I'll make myself clear, I only bought Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition because I knew it would be the go-to game at launch.
I like the fighting game genre but not that much. Besides, I'm still mad that Capcom shelved Mega Man Legends 3.

Not a chance. The game we got has broken controls and some lousy adaptive cheapy AI. I'm sticking with SF3 and before thanks, and DOA Dimensions on 3DS where it plays right. Even if I did like it, I wouldn't buy this because Capcom has burned me as Nintendo owner enough times and I'm done paying them to mentally kick me in the nuts time and again. MML3, the lies of the Capcom 5 on Gamecube culminating in 1 game and 1 ported to the PS2 as the definitive version telling people 2 weeks before the GC copy came out to pacify PS2 owners, their slimy tactics with the N64. DRM on PS3 games I was going to buy like Final Fight. They can jump off a bridge.
I'd consider getting it as DLC. I'd only buy a retail version at a price that wouldn't be profitable for Capcom at all.
Yet another rerelease of SFIV?
Yes. The original SFIV in the arcade only had 19 characters and when it came to the home consoles, six additional characters were added. But that wasn't enough for the fans who demanded a sequel to be made. And so SSFIV came about. But the arcades were dying so Capcom didn't make an arcade version but later did so because of pressure from fans but Capcom added four new characters plus some rebalancing as an added incentive since SSFIV had already been released for many months so a straight port from the home consoles to the arcade wouldn't have gained much exposure or interest. But those who couldn't get to an arcade to play it wanted to play as the new characters and the rebalancing too so Capcom gave them Arcade Edition as DLC. Plus a seperate retail game which includes SSFIV with the DLC already on the disc for those who didn't already own SSFIV.
When it came to developing the 3DS version, Arcade Edition had not yet been released on the home consoles and Capcom had to release SSFIV as a launch game. Besides, the home console owners wouldn't have been happy that a handheld got Arcade Edition before them.
Arcade Edition on the 3DS should be DLC for SSFIV. It may also be sold at retail in addition to being DLC for SSFIV. Even if its retail only, it wouldn't be intended for existing owners of SSFIV but for those who don't already have SSFIV. Its just not worth buying at full retail price again. But its a good game still if you don't already own SSFIV.
SF is getting really old really fast. I'm fed up of the constant rehashes... And this what they would prefer to bring instead of MML3. Yet I guess that if they do,a SSF4 reiteration would still sell more than MML3. At least talk about bringing something new to the table. Monster Hunter perhaps???
If SSF4 3d Arcade was DLC, then I would get it, but not as a stand-alone game.
My answer is... HELL NO!!!
Get back to me when we actually have an update if SF x Tekken will happen on 3DS or not for sure.
