It may be a journalistic cliché to say that a game represents a "return to the series' roots", but in the case of Resident Evil Revelations, it seems apt.
Capcom just granted us access to a series of previously classified materials, including new screenshots, trailers and information about the survival horror game. With an early 2012 release date rubber-stamped on the game, it won't be too long until RE fans can go a little further than the tantalising teaser demo included with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.
We got chance to snoop around the game's shady corners recently. Read our Resident Evil Revelations preview for a full debrief of our experience, then check out the new screenshots below and let us know if you're quaking with excitement about the return of Resi.

shivering with anticipation think i will be liking and replaying this as much as 2+4 cant get here soon enough
Me gusta.
correct me if im wrong, but i didnt really go over this;
Nintendo have sold 4.5million 3ds consoles. They aim to sell 16million before march.(not including week from 9-16 august) That gives them about 29 weeks to sell 13.5 mill which is an average of 465,500 units per week. So if the recent sales keep up, and with a suitable boost from the Mario games, I think the 3DS might finally be on track. Pretty unrelated.
Can't wait for this one. I'm having loads of fun playing Mercs but Revelations looks like it will blow it out of the water.
The original RE games were my favourite, when it was more puzzle solving than action so this will be a welcome return.
Looking nice.
If it's a return to the series' roots, does that mean we get hilariously bad voice acting coupled with cheesy bad writing?
I'm glad they're taking their time to polish this game. I can't wait to play it based on the preview build and how amazing these screen shots look.
Capcom is one of very few third parties that has consistently provided quality titles on Nintendo consoles over the last few years or so and this looks like no exception.
Looks awesome. Can't wait to play it
Capcom is taking time with Revelations, proving that 3DS is actually a powerful console, capable of pulling out some impressive graphics in 3D, and that should be an example for every other developer making games for Nintendo's new handheld. Can't wait to play the game and I really hope for the bad voice acting to come back full strenght.
I hope this game will show that adult oriented, original and well polished 3rd party games can become big sellers on the 3DS.
It looks very good so far but i can't get too excited about a game still in development anymore. Been let down too often in the past.
Too bad the screenshots aren't .mpos! =/
@Sgt_Ludby - yeah, we could use some *.mpo screenshots to see how the 3D effects are done. Let's hope those surface at some point. :]
I'm pretty sure I'll be picking this up at launch, it just keeps getting better and better!
@BenAV Megaman Legends 3
I'm hyped for this one. That demo for the game was way too short.
Amazing! Now let us see some Monster Hunter 3DS Capcom!
It looks nice but the textures look.. unfinished. Jill's character model looks more complete (on the ship) than the screenshots of these characters shown now. Anyhow, still looks impressive.
sweet
come here puppy. shotgun blast good boy.
I know that some people say that video games are an escape from reality, and that they let you do things you couldn't normally do in the real world, but one thing that I've never wanted to do is shoot a dog in the face with a shotgun.
^ you shouldnt even be trying to use shotguns on nintendogs silly
